Today we have a big announcement to make; the biggest in ClanBase history in fact!
Since ClanBase's humble beginnings as a Dutch Quake 2 site run by Tal and Wob six years ago, it has grown and grown until our community included all European countries and all competitive action games, managed by a crew of well over a hundred league supervisors. It was an extra-ordinary expansion that no other tournament organiser has ever pulled off.
However, during the last year or so, ClanBase's growth slowed down as leagues that are smaller but more commercially oriented than us proved more efficient in attracting sponsorship. It became clear that we needed a new dynamic to keep moving forward, especially in the marketing department. During the last few months we have been very busy behind the scenes working on a solution for this, and today we can tell you that ClanBase is going to put itself firmly on the forefront of online competitive gaming in Europe again.
To achieve this we are joining hands with America's fastest growing league: the Global Gaming League (GGL). The GGL started out two years ago and is run by a professional staff that includes several full-time developers (including former QW/Q3 star Hakeem and current Q3/PK star cha0ticz), the famous broadcaster djWheat, former investment bankers with a passion for gaming, and professional marketeers and event producers with strong ties in the entertainment industry. Besides organising online gaming competitions, the GGL also specialises in producing live events and television programs all over the world. This movie gives you a good impression of both.
The ClanBase-GGL partnership reflects an almost perfect synergy. The GGL is based in the USA and has the marketing muscle and media expertise that ClanBase has been lacking, while ClanBase is based in Europe and brings years of grassroots experience in online gaming tournaments and a huge community to the table.
For the ClanBase community, the new partnership will manifest itself in the following ways:
* The GGL's marketing crew will find sponsorship for both ClanBase and GGL tournaments from now on. The GGL has awarded more than $100,000 in prize money in 2004 alone, and can now add the huge marketing potential of ClanBase (well over 2 million pageviews a day) to its tools.
* Development of our web sites will shift to a higher gear as we start adopting each other's best features. For example, ClanBase will implement better squad support and internal messenging, while the GGL will implement our conflict solving mechanism. I can also say GGL are working on an application that will greatly facilitate arranging and playing online matches.
* Of course, our joint ambition is to organise world-wide tournaments in which the best teams from Europe, America and Asia compete online to qualify for a world class final event.
We hope the ClanBase community will be as excited about this partnership as we are! Its first positive result will materialise very soon, when we announce the new ClanBase cup season. Stay tuned! Read the official press release. |

| Ik vind de nl league beter zo, al die inactieve clans uit de lijst!! Maar zou ook leuk zijn als er weer top clans terug komen. |

| ik vind clanbase de laatste tijd maar niks (de nl ladder dan). Ik weet dat Dow een tijd geleden een voorstel heeft gedaan voor een andere ladder waarbij er een promovatie/degredatie systeem gehanteerd werd met verschillende klassen. Dit lijkt me veel leuker. Ben alleen de naam kwijt van de site. |

Maar de cs ladder is door het hibernate van alle inactieve clans kleiner geworden en naab clans bestaan niet meer. Dus je moet gewoon goede teamplay hebben wil je nu hoog in de ladder komen.
Trouwens we kunnen ook naar de finse ladder gaan, die hebben 6000 actieve clans!!!!!! |
